Back to it!

After a great Christmas break, seeing family and friends (and eating!), I am now out in Austria for a week of training before the Europa cup downhill series kicks off with Wengen, Patcherkofel and Val D’Isere.

The first day back was great, we trained GS at Hinterreit- a tiny 2 lift ‘resort’ where lots of the top world cup teams train. It has a piste dedicated to race training which is normally injected to make it rock hard and icy. It was great being back on the skis and straight away I felt good. It’s nice to have had a break and I’m feeling fresh and ready to go again.

Sadly the second day wasn’t so good, it rained heavily overnight and throughout our training session meaning the track was very soft and got bumpy quickly. Fortunately we carried on regardless and got a good days training in because the rain didn’t stop for 3 days! We were unable to train the following 2 days because the snow was too soft. We got one more days training, in very soft conditions but I’m feeling good and very excited to be heading to Wengen for some downhill action!
