Europa Cup Finals and Austrian Champs

Next we headed to Tarvisio for the last Europa Cup races of the year, a super g and a downhill.
Again I felt ok in both the training run and the race of the downhill but was slow, my lack of confidence was showing badly and I couldn’t persuade myself to believe I could be fast! The season seemed to be catching up to me, I was tired and disappointed but needing results we moved on to the Austrian Champs in Innerkrems.
First race we did was the slalom, it was a tough tough race with a lot of top guys there. My first run was pretty poor and the second run was a mystery! The course set was crazy! There were combinations I had never seen before and they set fast sections across rutts from the first run and into tight turns. I, like most of the field including world champion Pranger and world cup champion Herbst, crashed out in the first combination.
The super-g and super combi both went badly. I didn’t finish in the super g part of the combi and was slow in the super-g championship. I was done. I needed a break. So I headed to France for some days off, resting and trying to sort my head before the British. A great decision as I had a very enjoyable week and the races I was due to do were cancelled!
