Fitness camp, Stirling

The week following the etape we spent in Stirling at a fitness camp with the Scottish Institute of Sport, who have taken over control of the fitness programme. Doing weight lifting and various cardio and bounding sessions. We were closely monitored doing all the sessions, taking blood tests and heart rates to make sure that we working at the right intensities. We also had several lectures about physiology, nutrition and physiotherapy support.

We also managed to get in an afternoon of paintball as “teambuilding” which was great fun although i did end up with some good bruises!

It was a really good camp, learning a lot about the reasons behind all the different sessions and making sure we each work at the correct heart rates and intensities to get the most from our summer training. Hopefully we will reap the rewards next season!
